Stuck ona rep?
Most questions are answered below, sorted by where in the app they come up. If yours isn't, write to us and say what you were doing when it went wrong.

RepSplit is built by Endcode, a small studio in Milan. Support messages go straight to the team, not to a ticket queue.

Photos and FilesWhat do I need to run RepSplit?
An iPhone on iOS 26 or later. The app also installs on iPad. It is free to start, and there is no account to create: open it, import a clip and you are marking reps.
Which videos can I import?
Any video in Photos or Files: MP4 or MOV, HEVC or H.264, portrait or landscape, any length and any resolution. There is no size limit and no minimum.
Choose your clip opens the Photos picker. Import from Files opens the Files browser for clips in iCloud Drive, another cloud provider or a folder someone shared with you. Either way, RepSplit only ever sees the one clip you pick.
The import says "Bringing in your clip" and is taking a while.
Two things take time here. If the video lives in iCloud and is not on the phone, Photos has to download it first, and RepSplit shows a percentage while that happens. Then the clip is copied into the app, which takes a few seconds for a long 4K file.
Keep the app open. If the ring never moves, open the clip once in Photos so it finishes downloading, then import it again.
I get "Couldn't open that clip".
Photos or Files handed over something RepSplit could not read as a video, or the copy failed midway. In order of likelihood:
- Open the clip in Photos and check it plays there. A clip that fails in Photos will fail in RepSplit too.
- If it came from a cloud folder in Files, make it available offline first, then import again.
- If it was sent through a messaging app, ask for the original file. Heavily recompressed videos sometimes lose their video track.
- Try the other route: Files instead of Photos, or the other way round.
Still failing? Send us the exact message, the clip's length and resolution, and which app it came from.
Does RepSplit need access to my photo library?
No. It uses Apple's own pickers, which run outside the app, so there is no permission prompt and the app never sees your library. The only prompt you may ever meet is when you save an exported clip to Photos from the share sheet, because that adds a video to your library.
RepSplit does not use the camera, the microphone, your location or your health data.
Marking reps
The timelineHow do I mark reps?
- Press play and tap Add rep each time a rep finishes. Drop the speed to 0.5× or 0.25× with the chip on the right to tap along comfortably.
- Scrub to the moment your set began and tap Set start, the flag icon. Rep 1's split and the burned-in clock both count from there.
- Pinch the filmstrip to zoom in up to 12× and use the frame-step buttons to land a marker on the exact frame.
There is no save button. Every change is written as you go, and Done takes you back. If you leave with no reps marked, the session is discarded rather than kept empty.
I tapped at the wrong moment. Can I fix it?
Yes, every marker can be moved or removed. Tap the marker on the filmstrip, or its row in the Reps list, and a bar appears with Nudge buttons that move it one frame at a time, plus Delete. You can also drag the marker directly.
To start over, open the menu on the Reps list header and choose Delete all reps. There is no undo, so that one asks first.
Can RepSplit count the reps for me?
Not yet. Marking is by hand on purpose: it is what makes every split exact to the frame and the stats trustworthy. At half speed, a set of thirty takes under a minute. Automatic detection is something we are working on, and it will ship when it is accurate enough to trust.
Why don't I see fastest, average or the chart yet?
Fastest, average and pace need at least two reps. The split chart appears from three. Rep 1 is always counted, but it is never crowned fastest, because its split includes the walk-up from your start signal.
My movement isn't in the list.
Open More in the movement bar and choose Custom. Give it a name and an icon. The short name burned into the clip is derived from what you type, up to twelve characters, and you see it as you go.
Long-press a custom chip to Rename, Merge into a catalogue movement, or Delete it. A movement that still has sessions cannot be deleted. Merge it into another one first, and every rep you marked comes along.
One movement per session. Picking a different chip retypes the whole set.
Stats and history
Splits, pace, PRsHow are the numbers calculated?
Split is the time since the previous rep. Rep 1 is measured from your start signal.
Fastest and average use every rep except rep 1, so the walk-up never skews them.
Pace is reps per minute across the working set, from the start signal to the last rep.
The pace trend on the exported clip is a sparkline of your last splits, with the running average dashed behind it.
What counts as a PR?
The highest pace among all your sessions of the same movement, with more than one rep. Your first session of a movement is never a PR, because there was nothing to beat yet. The badge appears on the session and in the list.
What does "Compared with" show?
Two rows. Previous session is your most recent earlier session of the same movement. Your best is your top session of that movement. Each shows how today's pace, average and fastest rep differ from it. The Pace over time chart on the Sessions screen appears once a movement has two sessions.
Exporting
Rendering and sharingWhere does my exported video go?
When the render finishes, the clip plays full screen with a Share button. Share it to Photos to keep it, or straight to Instagram or TikTok.
RepSplit does not save to Photos on its own. If you close that screen without sharing, the file is not kept. Your marks are, so exporting again takes one tap.
The export stopped before it finished.
RepSplit cannot encode video from the background. If you switch apps, answer a call or lock the phone during a render, the hardware encoder is taken away and you see Export stopped. Tap Try again and keep RepSplit in front until the percentage reaches 100. The screen stays awake by itself while it renders.
Rendering is slow.
The overlay is burned into every frame, so render time grows with clip length and resolution. 1080p renders about four times faster than Original, and it is the size Reels and TikTok keep anyway. You can switch between the two under Export size in the Style sheet.
I get "Something went wrong" when exporting.
The message underneath says what failed. The usual causes:
- Low storage. A render needs room for the new file, several hundred megabytes for a long 4K clip. Free some space, or switch to 1080p, and try again.
- "That file doesn't contain a video track." The clip is audio only or damaged. Re-export it from the app that made it.
- "Couldn't start the encoder" or "The clip couldn't be read". Usually a one-off. Close and reopen RepSplit, then export again.
If it keeps happening on the same clip, send us the message text plus the clip's length and resolution.
Is the audio kept?
Yes. The original soundtrack is carried over as stereo AAC. Clips with no audio export fine too.
My clip is 4K but the export is 1080p.
1080p is the free export size. Original keeps the full source resolution, up to 4K, and is part of Pro. RepSplit never upscales, so a 1080p source exports at 1080p in either mode.
Can I remove the RepSplit wordmark?
With Pro, yes: switch off RepSplit wordmark in the Style sheet. On the free export it stays on, small, and always sits opposite your stats corner, never bottom right, so the Reels and TikTok interface does not cover it.
Bold and Neon show a PRO badge but I can still preview them?
That is by design. Every look, corner and toggle previews live on your footage. Pro is only checked when you export. If you would rather not buy yet, choose Export free version instead: you get the Minimal look at 1080p with the wordmark on, and your style choices are kept for later.
Pro and purchases
One-time, via AppleWhat does Pro include, and is it a subscription?
Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks the Bold and Neon looks, lets you turn the wordmark off, exports at original quality up to 4K, and includes every look we ship in future.
Everything you use to mark and measure stays free. The price is shown in the app in your local currency and is charged to your Apple Account. It is a founder price for now and goes up when cloud sync ships.
I bought Pro but it's locked again. New phone, reinstall, or it just disappeared.
Open Settings in the app, then RepSplit Pro, then Restore purchase. Pro is tied to your Apple Account, not to the device, so it comes back on any iPhone signed in with the account you bought it on.
If you see "No RepSplit Pro purchase found for this Apple Account", the phone is signed in with a different account than the one that bought Pro. Check the name at the top of the iPhone Settings app. Apple cannot move a purchase between accounts.
Pro is not shared through Family Sharing. Each Apple Account buys it once.
I get "That purchase couldn't be verified".
The App Store did not confirm the transaction, which is almost always a connection hiccup. Wait a minute, make sure you are online, then use Restore purchase. You are not charged twice: the App Store recognises the purchase you already made. If it still fails after a few tries, get in touch and tell us the time of the purchase.
It says "Waiting for approval".
Your Apple Account has Ask to Buy switched on, so the family organiser has to approve the purchase. Nothing to do on your side. Once it is approved, Pro switches on by itself, and you can keep marking in the meantime.
Does Pro work offline?
Yes. The unlock is kept on the phone, so marking and exporting with Pro looks works without a connection. You only need to be online to buy or restore.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all App Store payments, so refunds go through Apple rather than us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the RepSplit Pro purchase. If Apple grants the refund, Pro switches off in the app. Clips you already exported are yours to keep.
Your data
On this iPhone onlyRepSplit is using a lot of storage.
Every clip you import is copied into the app so it keeps working even if you tidy up Photos. That adds up, especially with 4K footage. Three ways to get space back:
- On a session, open the menu and choose Remove clip, keep results. The reps, splits and comparisons stay, and the dialog tells you how much you free. You will not be able to edit or export that clip again.
- Delete session from the same menu removes the clip, the marks and the results.
- Settings → Your data → Delete all sessions clears everything. Your custom movements, your style and Pro are kept.
Does anything leave my phone?
Your footage, reps and results never do. There is no account and no cloud copy. The one thing the app sends is anonymous usage counts, like "clip imported" or "export completed", with no identifiers and never your footage or the names of your own movements. Switch it off under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous analytics and nothing is sent at all.
The full detail is in the privacy policy.
Will my sessions move to a new iPhone?
Not yet. Cloud sync is not available, so sessions live on the phone they were made on. Your results are part of the app's data in an iPhone backup, but the clip files are deliberately left out of backups because of their size. Pro itself is on your Apple Account and comes back with Restore purchase.
What happens if I delete the app?
Everything it stored goes with it: clips, reps, results, custom movements and settings. There is no server copy to recover from. Clips you exported and shared to Photos are unaffected, and Pro can be restored after you reinstall.
